The left lane is a passing lane. This is not a law, but it is commonly accepted knowledge.
People drive in this lane for various reasons, the most common being:
- An upcoming left hand turn.
- A desire to pass slower traffic on the right.
- A desire to drive faster than slower traffic on the right.
- Complete obliviousness.
- A better view of the beautiful palm trees.
- Getting stuck in the passing lane behind a moron in front, and a line of morons on the right, who apparently have never seen a turn signal or know what it means.
Don’t let tid-bits of law, reason, and common courtesy distract you though.
You have a car, and a license, and a sticker on your license proving you can read line 2 on the vision chart at the DMV.
Who cares if:
- You’re blocking traffic during the busiest time of the day … during the busiest time of year…
- You’re driving 10 miles per hour under the speed limit…
So what if:
- The people who live here and work here full time have to get to work on time…
- … or pickup their kids from school / bus drop on time…
- … or get to an important appointment…
- … or are about to urinate / defecate on themselves because you and your ilk have DESTROYED local traffic patterns…
THOSE PEOPLE CAN ALL WAIT. YOU BLOCK THAT LEFT LANE SNOWBIRD!
